Speedrunner Sets New Record in Remaking Soulja Boy’s Crank That Using Stock Presets, Microsoft Excel Championship Declares Winner
There's a speedrunning
Speedrunning is quite popular within the gaming community, where players take up challenges of completing a game or an aspect of it as fast as possible. Interestingly, this trend seems to have caught on in the music industry as well, with people attempting to remake popular songs in the least amount of time as possible. In the latest news, one such speedrunner has managed to remake Soulja Boy’s 2007 hit “Crank That” in less than 17 seconds.
Speedrunning community that remakes 'Crank That'
It all started when YouTuber Servida Music posted a video of him speedrunning the recreation of Crank That in only 37.39 seconds. The YouTuber admitted that they made the video as a fun way of showing their appreciation for speedrunning, while requesting the audience not to beat him. He can be found saying at the end of the video, “If you guys think you can beat this, please don’t, because it took me really long to do this.” But with the internet, as Servida Music states, they did the exact opposite of what he told them not to.
Since then, people have been attempting to speedrun remaking the first 40 seconds of Soulja Boy’s Crank That. Eventually YouTuber Eliminate finished the speedrun in a record setting of 22.74 seconds. However, in September earlier this year, the original world record holder reclaimed his title setting a record of completing the speedrun in 19.91 seconds. His record has once again been broken by TikToker Prodrobtmb who has now completed the speedrun in 16.36 seconds. Needless to say, the TikToker has set an impressive record, but given how competitive this speedrunning community is hell bent on breaking each other’s records, it is now to see how long Prodrobtmb gets to hold his record.
