To avoid the recently implemented 20% Tax Collected at Source - TCS on foreign remittance, individuals can adopt several strategies.
Firstly, keep the remittance amount below INR 7 lakhs within a financial year, as no TCS is applied for amounts under this threshold.
For educational or medical purposes, remittances below INR 7 lakhs are also exempt from TCS. If sending more than this amount, consider using an education loan, which reduces the TCS rate to 0.5% for educational expenses, or pay 5% for medical expenses.
